The strengthening and connecting of amphibian populations in Lower Saxony's cultural landscape is the goal of the LIFE AMPHIKULT project. About one million euro have been invested in the conservation of endangered amphibian species - the redevelopment and creation of spawning grounds being the key measure.

Initiator and  active supporter in the application process was NABU's Regional Committee of Experts for field herpetology and ichthyofaunistics.
